The Red Planet: A Way Out/Up

Distant and yet so close, alien and yet so familiar, the red planet has tempted the imagination and dreams of mankind for as long as we observed the stars and wondered what we would find if we ventured to the great beyond. Whether it be the analytical drive which teaches us that a species is doomed if they remain on one planet alone, or a deep sense of ambition to expand and grow every higher - one thing remains an essential feature of the Martian Dream: The hope for a new start. Though one has to wonder, given the standard we've set on earth, is Mars a new start - or just a cosmic example of mankind's drive to run from our problems, or worse yet, a way for those guilty to escape, and leave the rest of us to pay their price? - Moshe Shamah
