Omelas: All for a Small Cost

With the summer solstice approaching, the shimmering city of Omelas sprang to life. From a quick glimpse, those who came to Omelas found a true paradise, sun-kissed tile roofs with gentle waves hugging the shoreline, a deeply sophisticated and tight-knit community with little dependence on dystopian technology- everything the modern man lacks. And yet, what is the cost of such a place, and would you still be willing to create such a society, if it requires the knowing and wilful suffering of another? - Moshe Shamah
